OUTDOOR KIDS ZONE

These activities are happening all day!

Austin Justice Coalition's Higher Learning
Austin Justice Coalition (AJC) is a community organization whose mission is to provide the tools for people who are marginalized to improve their lives by being the driving force behind their own liberation. AJC’s Higher Learning is a free social justice Saturday program for youth of color. Our mission is to educate and support youth of color in owning and rewriting their story. Our program provides our youth with safe healthy learning spaces, and facilitators who understand the societal and systemic barriers they face daily.
Mother's Milk Bank of Austin Baby Station
This station provides a quiet, private place for parents to care for their babies while at the festival. The station includes rocking chairs for nursing mothers and changing stations, as well as other necessary supplies, hosted by Mothers' Milk Bank at Austin.
Loose Parts, Nature Play
Unstructured, outdoor play with many natural materials!
AIA Box City
Join the architects of AIA Austin for a fun design-build activity! Children learn about architecture by recreating a miniature version of downtown Austin, using only recyclable materials such as paper, plastic & cardboard boxes. A city grid on astroturf serves as our blank canvas, awaiting students’ creativity to develop a thriving city. Age oriented activities will be available for the duration of the event, with the Box City activities geared towards grades 3rd-6th. Younger siblings may be assisted by their parent or guardian.
The Dumpster Project
The Dumpster Project is transforming a 36-square-foot trash dumpster into an environmentally friendly human home. The project also hopes to spark interest in the way that fun and forward-thinking innovation can help address the challenges facing both current and future generations as our world becomes increasingly complex. The Dumpster Project is many things: a re-imagining of home, a portable learning initiative, a sustainability conversation, a creative branch of a wider green campus initiatives at Huston-Tillotson University (HT), and, most importantly, an innovative STEM education platform that uses the real-world challenge of transforming a trash dumpster into a tiny sustainable home to inspire learners of all ages. Climb into the Dumpster home and explore its features and interactive displays.
Imagination Playground
The Imagination Playground is an innovative playground equipment system that transforms any space—schools, children's museums, parks and recreation, daycare centers, camps, hospitals, churches—into a play space that encourages learning, social development, movement, and above all fun.
Tumbling Blocks
Wooden toy game of strategy for children and adults alike. Resembles a giant game of Jenga.
